How To Measure Guide

Neck

Place the tape measurer around the neck, where the collar would usually and comfortably fit. Depending on your preference we would recommend one or two fingers width between the tape measurer and the neck. You can always use another shirt in your closet as a reference.

Sleeve Length

For this measurement you will need a partner. We measure sleeve length from the center point of the person’s neck down to their shoulder and extending down to the center part of a persons hand. Again if you would like grab a well fitting dress shirt from your closet as another reference.

Shirt Length

This measurement is taken from the base of the neck down to where you would like the shirt to end for most men this is about an inch from the bottom of the rear. If you would like grab a well fitting shirt from your closet as a reference.

Here are the average lengths for dress shirts—    S-30, M-31, L-32, XL-33

Shoulders

This measurement is taken from one end of the shoulders to the other. If you’re measuring your friend have him look forward with relaxed shoulders in natural stance. Start measuring from one end of the shoulder (at the shoulder seam of shirt) to the other end or seam of the shirt

Averages – S: Between 16-17″ M: Between 18-19″ L: Between 20-21″

Biceps

The bicep measurement is taken around the fullest part of the arm. Refrain from the temptation of flexing to impress the measurer.  This measurement happens about 2 inches down from the armpit.

Chest

This measurement will be taken at the fullest point of a person’s chest, usually around the nipples. Lift up your arms and wrap the tape measurer around the back and to the front. Have the tape snug around your chest, but not tight. Resist the urge to flex.

Advice: Avoid wearing thick layers for accurate measurement.

Waist

This measurement is taken around the fullest part of the stomach, usually at or around the belly button. Keep tape measurer level at the back, and keep a nice, relaxed posture.

Advice – Be natural. Don’t stick out or hold in your gut. Leave tape measurer snug, but not tight

Hip

Place measuring tape around the fullest part of the bum. Make sure tape is parallel to the floor.
